Comparison of some avian influenza virus strains possessing hemagglutinin Hav1 revealed the greatest differences in strains A/FPV/Weybridge and A/FPV/Rostock/34. These strains differed in the degree of homology of 8 genome fragments, electrophoretic mobility of the majority of proteins, plaque size and rct42 marker and displayed significant differences in the antigenic specificity of hemagglutinin. Strains A/FPV/Weybridge and A/FPV/Dobson were closer in the degree of genome homology but differed in 3 genes, electrophoretic mobility of some proteins, plaque size rct42 marker and antigenic specifcity of hemagglutinin. Avian influenza virus strains of the Hav1 subtype may differ in the degree of gene homology and some other properties including antigenic specificity of hemagglutinin like influenza viruses with other hemagglutinin subtypes.
