The connection of anti-inflammatory and hormonal activity of a series of 8,16-diazasteroid derivatives

Antiinflammatory activity and mechanism of action of seven 8,16diazasteroid series compounds were studied in rats and mice. By and large antiinflammatory activity of the agents proved to increase due to a reduced ketone function in position 12 of 8,16diazasteroid, as well as to the introduction of methoxy groups into positions 2 and 3 or phenol substitute into position 16. Activity of compounds VI and VII also depended on the inflammation model and pain response. It differed significantly from the efficacy of diclofenac sodium and prednisolone. Unlike the latter, the compounds studied had virtually no hormonal activity.
