The volatile leaf oils of Eucalyptus 'Species R', E. 'Species Q', E. socialis, E. 'Species O', E. wyolensis, E. glomerosa, E. leptopoda subsp. elevata, E. effusa subsp. effusa, E. effusa subsp. exsul, E. cosmophylla, E. longifolia, E. paludicola, E. calophylla, E. haematoxylon, E. ficifolia, E. diversicolor, E. cladocalyx and E. gomphocephala, isolated by vacuum distillation, were analysed by GC and by GC-MS. Many species contained alpha -pinene (0.2-31.1%), beta -pinene (0-12.5%), 1,8-cineole (0.2-76.8%), p-cymene (0-20.8%), aromadendrene (0-13.6%), bicyclogermacrene (0-43.4%) and spathulenol (0.1-15.2%) as principal leaf oil components; all species contained torquatone.
