The various manifestations of Pyle's disease are discussed in relation to a new case. It is doubtful whether there is any relationship to marble bone or to skull changes resembling fibrous dysplasia, such as has been described several times. Possibly these result from a combination of developmental abnormalities of the skeleton. Since this condition is to be regarded as a developmental disturbance rather than a disease which does not affect the expectation of life nor cause any disability it would be better to refer to the condition as "Pyle's congenital, familial bone dysplasia" rather than Pyle's disease.
