Paramasenia rifaati n.g., n.sp. is described from the small intestine of Synodontis schall and S. serratus in Sharkiya Governorate, Egypt. The main difference between the new genus and the related genera Masenia and Eumasenia is the absence of a circumoral crown of spines.
