A survey of the helminth parasites of stray dogs in and around Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh

A systematic survey of the helminth fauna of 51 stray dogs from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, India, revealed 12 species: Opisthorchis noverca, Echinochasmus perfoliatus, Haplorchis taichui, Schistosoma incognitum, Dipylidium caninum, Taenia hydatigena, Echinococcus granulosus, Ancylostoma caninum, Spirocerca lupi, Toxocara cants, Physaloptera canis, and Acanthocephala. O. noverca was recovered from the lung and pancreatic duct in addition to the liver and bileducts. H. taichui was recorded for the third time in India and second time in north India; S. lupi was found in the lung which is an unusual site of infection.
