Glycolysis and some reactions of the pentose-phosphate pathway in DDT sensitive and resistant Musca domestica L

The rates of carbohydrate metabolism by glycolysis and the pentose-phosphate pathway were 25% greater in females of a DDT-resistant strain than in those of a susceptible strain of Musca domestica L. The rates were unaffected after application of a sublethal dose of DDT (0.5 mu g/fly) to females of the susceptible strain and were raised by 20% after application of a sublethal dose (100 mu g/fly) to those of the resistant strain. It is concluded that carbohydrate metabolism and DDT resistance are unconnected in M. domestica.
