A number of problems related to the specificity of host-parasite systems in arthropods can be elucidated by studying the antigenic relations of adults and immature stages of the parasites with their hosts. In this connection, antisera were obtained by immunising rabbits with homogenates of whole adults of Musca domestica L. and of cuticle, viscera and whole examples of third-instar larvae and pupae. Preliminary results indicated that at least one antigenic system was common to the 3 developmental stages tested. The highest immunogenicity and antigenic differentiation were exhibited by larvae and adults; lower ones were exhibited by larval cuticle, pupal viscera and whole pupae; and the lowest ones by pupal cuticle.
