The toxicity of different strains of Aspergillus fumigatus

A study of 153 strs. showed that toxicity was due to the secretion of metabolites into the cultural liquid and to their content in the mycelium. Mice were killed in 3-6 days by 30.3% of unpurified toxins from the cultural fluid and by 11.4% of those from the mycelium. The lethal dose of the exotoxin was 125-250 mg/kg and of endotoxon 121-358 mg/kg.
