Association of Aspergillus fumigatus with rhinitis

A. fumigatus pathogenic for mice was isolated in pure culture from the nasal exudate of one of 23 mules and one of seven dromedaries but none of nine horses and two pigs with a history of rhinitis. Both cases had failed to respond to conventional therapy with antihistaminic, antibiotic and hydrocortisone. The fungus was also isolated from the soil of a dromedary shed and a mule shed.
