Mebendazole surpasses difetarsone in the treatment of Trichuris infections, is poorly absorbed and non-toxic. A standard 100 mg dose twice daily for 3 consecutive days is virtually 100% effective against Necator americanus. Ancylostoma duodenale, Ascaris lumbricoides and Trichuris trichiura. It is also active against other helminths and is recommended for blanket administration to schoolchildren with multiple nematode infestations.
