The following is substantially the author's summary. Adults of laboratory strains of Culex tritaeniorhynchus summorosus Dyar, Culex pipiens pallens Coq. and C. p. fatigans Wied. were infected with Japanese encephalitis virus by means of a membrane-feeding technique or by intrathoracic injection, and the mode of infection of the virus in the insects was investigated by the use of a fluorescent-antibody technique applied to the frozen sections of infected mosquitos.
