In order to promote the formation of a theoretical basis for using psychotropic agents to help treat poisoning, a comparative study was made of the dynamics of changes in the dopaminergic and noradrenergic systems of 200 white rats brought on by the i.p. administration of 10 mg/kg of dimethoxydichlorovinyl phosphate [DDVP] and 1.3 mg/kg of fluostigmine. Luminescence microscopy, potentiometric titration and histochemical methods were used to measure the intensity of luminescence, catecholamine content and cholinesterase activity. Organophosphorus compounds induced changes in luminescence intensity in the locus ceruleus, substantia nigra, area A-10, the caudate nucleus and the nuclei of the terminal fibers. During the acute period of intoxication (the first 30 min), both compounds increased the intensity of luminescence in the brain nuclei 1.2- to 1.5-fold, after which a decrease in luminescence intensity was observed (from the 4th h to the 24th) with the original level being restored by the 5th day.
