Effects of entobacterin on flea larvae

Larvae of Xenopsylla cheopis (Roths.) were reared in sand containing various concentrations of Entobakterin 3 [a proprietary preparation of Bacillus thuringiensis var. galleriae]. The LC50's calculated from the numbers that died before becoming adults were 6 mg/g for larvae in the first instar, 11 for those in the second and 45 for those in the third. Mortality was mainly confined to larvae, some of which formed abnormal cocoons.
