The use of environmental insecticides and acaricides for the treatment of canine allergies is discussed briefly. It is suggested that the use of environmental insecticides, which probably also eradicate dust mites, in the investigation of canine pruritus cases may lead to confusion between canine atopic dermatitis (where dust mites have been implicated as an important allergen) and canine flea allergic dermatitis.
