Due to the potentially hazardous nature of their work, training and certification in the correct use of organophosphate chemicals for flea control is recommended for professional dog groomers in the USA. Courses should include information on the compounds used, signs of toxicosis, species and breed variability in sensitivity and protective measures for the groomers.
