Adults of Xenopsylla cheopis (Roths.) were found to contain 13 mg lipids/g fresh weight, about 33% of which were phospholipids. Triglycerides were the main neutral lipids. The phospholipids detected were phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylserine, phosphatidylinositol, polyglycerol phosphatide and sphingomyelin. Phosphatidylethanolamine and phosphatidylcholine were present in almost equal amounts and constituted about 77% of the total phospholipids. Oleic acid constituted about 69% of the fatty acids present.
