Normal allantoic fluid on the 11th-12th day of incubation contained not more than three protein components. One component (92% of the protein) had a sedimentation coefficient of 4S and another (7%) 25S. Allantoic fluid from chick embryos infected with the Rostock strain of fowl plague virus contained at least five protein components, having sedimentation coefficients of 4S, 15S and above 15S. High-speed centrifugation yielded protein composed of about 40% protein of atomic weight 66000 and about 60% of atomic weight 24000. This protein may represent viral polypeptide.
