Freshly-isolated bovine parainfluenza-3 virus (strain R6) was adapted to chick-embryo allantoic cavity cells after 3 passages in the amniotic acity and further serial passages in the allantoic cavity. Adaptation was manifested by a gradual increase in haemagglutinating antibody titre and in infectious titre. The virus multiplied rapidly in this culture: virus titre reached a maximum 6 days after infection, stayed at this level for 2 days, then decreased slightly. Attempts to adapt the "SF4" strain of parainfluenza-3 virus failed.
