A comparative immunoelectrophoretic analysis was made of the haemolymph of ticks of Ornithodoros (Alveonasus) lahorensis Neum. infected or uninfected with Rickettsia sibirica. In the haemolymph of infected ticks changes occurred in the electrophoretic properties of its proteins, both in the amount of the protein fractions and their position on the immunoelectrophorogram. The results obtained suggest the possibility of using scanning immunochemical techniques for revealing infection in ticks.
