The effect of aminoadamantane (amantadine) on the synthesis of viral RNA was studied in chick-embryo cell (CEC) cultures infected with fowl plague virus (FPV). By autoradiography it was established that in the presence of 25 mu g/ml amantadine no synthesis of virus-induced RNA took place. In the presence of actinomycin D there was no synthesis of virus-specific RNA. It is assumed that the amantadine affects processes related to the replication of viral RNA.
