Seven bovine fetuses ranging in gestational age from 3 to 8 months were inoculated i/m with an inactivated IBR-IPV virus. Between 30 and 60 days after inoculation the fetuses were removed from the uterus by caesarean section. At this time, the gestational age ranged from 5 to 9 months. Of the 7 fetuses, 6 fetuses, including 2 that were 5 and 6 months of gestational age, had virus-neutralizing antibody titres of 1:2.8 to 1:11. Splenic extract from all fetuses gave neutralizing antibody titres of 1:5.6 to 1:11. All but one fetus showed increased imunoglobulin G concentrations. Evidence of antigenic stimulation was seen in the lymphoreticular system.
