Three virus isolates conjunctival and nasal swabs taken during an outbreak of conjunctivitis in a group of yarded store cattle were identical to the Oxford strain of infectious bovine rhinotracheitis virus in size, haemagglutination activity, chloroform sensitivity, cytopathogenicity, and in the titres produced in serum neutralization tests. This is the first report of the isolation of the virus in Ireland.
