Status of macro- and micronutrients in some soils of Tonk district of Rajasthan

An attempt was made to study the correlation of macronutrient (N, P, K) and micronutrient (Zn, Fe, Cu and Mn) contents of the soil from Uniara Samiti of Tonk district in the semiarid region of Rajasthan, India. Soil samples (0-20 cm) were collected from 120 sites covering 26 Gram Panchayats and were analysed for physicochemical properties. The available N, P and K contents varied from 125.0-555.0, 9.2-62.2, and 105.0-1059.0 kg/ha, respectively. A significantly positive correlation was found between organic carbon and all available macronutrients. The soil nutrient index for N, P and K were 1.75, 1.70 and 2.54, respectively against the nutrient index values of < 1.67 for low, 1.67-2.33 for medium, and >2.33 for high fertility status of the area. The contents of Zn, Fe, Cu and Mn varied from 0.19-1.93, 2.23-14.16, 0.21-1.87 and 6.85-45.25 mg/kg with mean values of 0.83, 5.38, 0.61 and 21.56 mg/kg, respectively.
