Field experiments were conducted with wheat as a test crop and application of lime and micronutrients, viz, zinc, copper and boron, alone and in combinations. In soils high in available zinc (8.6 ppm) and copper (4.6 ppm), lime alone increased significantly the yield of wheat. Application of micronutrients alone or in combination with lime in such soil did not have any effect on yield of wheat. In soils with low available zinc (1.4 ppm) and copper (0.7), the application of lime alone reduced their contents below critical limits resulting in the non-significant increase in the yield. An application of zinc sulphate (7.5 kg ha-1) and copper sulphate (5.0 kg ha-1) along with lime increased the yield of wheat significantly. The application of lime increased pH, but decreased the contents of micronutrients in soil and wheat grain. Zinc and copper application increased their respective concentrations in soil and grain, but antagonised other micronutrients. The contents of zinc and copper and their uptake by wheat were more in soils with their high available micronutrients status.
