Results of the investigations based on the intensive collection and study for four years (1972-1976) on the fish and fisheries of Kota district (latitudes 24.degree.27' to 25.degree.51' and longitudes 75.degree.37 to 77.degree.26') of Rajasthan State are reported. In all seventy nine species representing eight orders, nineteen families and forty nine genera have been recorded with observations on their habitats, seasonal availability and maximum size. Out of seventy nine species eleven species viz., Gonialosa manmina (Ham.), Mystus aor (Ham.), M. tengara (Ham.), Clarias batrachus (Linn.), Anabas testudjneus (Bl.), Nandus nandus (Ham.) Badis badis (Ham.), Cirrhina chaudhryi Srivastava, Ctenopharyngodon idella (Val.), Hypophthalmichthys molitrix (Val.) and hybrids of Labeo rohita (Ham.)x Catla catla (Ham.) are reported for the first time from Rajasthan State. In addition, the present fishery resources and fishery potentials have been discussed.
