Aerosol vaccination against Newcastle disease: the influence of vaccine diluent

Two aerosol generators were used to produce microdroplets of the B1 strain of Newcastle disease vaccine. One machine produced finer particles than the other and these induced a faster serological response in chickens. When diluents were compared, it was found that distilled water produced fine droplet nuclei which were more immunogenic than the nuclei derived from vaccines containing tap water or gelatin as diluents.
