Vaccination of ostriches against Newcastle disease

Two Newcastle disease virus vaccination programmes are described, one for ostrich chicks with no maternal antibodies (5 doses; at 2 weeks and 1, 2, 6 and 12 months with annual boosters), and another for chicks with adequate maternal antibodies (4 doses; at 45 and 70 days and 6 and 12 months of age with annual boosters). Both programmes use live and killed vaccine for the first dose followed by killed vaccine. Both live and killed Clone 30 and live LaSota vaccines have been used in such programmes.
