Growth and hematologic properties of the BALB-wm strain of inbred mice

Data obtained on 2928 BALB/wm mice over a 3-yr period were analysed. Size of group (5 or 20 mice/cage) had no effect on growth rate, but sex and breeding activity did; at 20 wk, body weight of breeding males and females averaged 25.5 and 23.2 g resp. v 23.5 and 21.0 g resp. for virgin males and females . The mice continued to gain weight up to 1 yr of age.
