Kidney transplantation in the inbred rat preimmunized with donor strain spleen cells

WKAH (RT1k) rats received kidney grafts from TO (RT1t), SDJ (RT1u), LEJ (RT1j), BUF (RT1b), LEW (RT1l) and WKAH.1U(WF) (RT1u) rats, with or without previous injection of spleen cells from rats of the donor strain. The graft survived indefinitely only in rats receiving a TO kidney plus TO spleen cells. It is suggested that immune response genes are involved in kidney graft survival/rejection.
