Although it has been reported that equine infectious anaemia virus can pass through a membrane of 32 m mu pore size [V.B. 41, abst. 1157], the filtration experiments described here show there was almost no loss of infectivity on filtration through a pore size of 200 or 150 m mu , but less than 1% was recovered after passage through a 100 m mu filter, and no infectivity would be detected after passage through a 50 m mu filter. These results indicate a virus size corresponding to that determined by electron microscopy, i.e. 80-150 m mu in diameter [v.b. 40, absts. 1677 & 2267].
