Larvae and pupae of Culex pipiens fatigans Wied. were collected near Taveta, southern Kenya, and the resulting females were found to mate satisfactorily with males from a laboratory colony. Males of the colony were offered meals on a 10% sugar solution containing 0.015% apholate for two days after emergence and, subsequently, untreated sugar solution. In cage tests with colony females, the males were shown to be completely sterile, except for a very low degree of fertility in the first week.
