113 women received a 4-mg quinestrol tablet 1-4 h after delivery, 26 women received 1 such tablet on the 1st-3rd days after delivery and a 2nd tablet later, 38 women received a tablet in the 1st wk after delivery, followed 48 h later by a 2nd tablet, and 11 women received the same treatment in the 2nd wk after delivery. Medication to inhibit or suppress lactation was instituted either on medical grounds or at the express wish of the mother.
