4mg tablets of quinestrol (Estrovis 4000) given orally, successfully inhibited or suppressed lactation in 93.2% of 555 women. Optimum results were obtained when the tablet was taken within 6 h of delivery; the rate of successful inhibition was not increased when a 2nd tablet was given.
