A combined/oestrogen/progestogen/testosterone agent for the inhibition of lactation

Use of a single injection of Ablacton (5 mg oestradiol benzoate, 8 mg oestradiol valerate, 20 mg norethisterone acetate + 100 mg testosterone oenanthate) was compared with an oral course of stilboestrol, totalling 125 mg, in trials at 2 hospitals involving 213 women. The 2 treatments gave very similar results for number of days when breast symptoms were present (2.8 vs. 3.16), number of days on which there was leakage (4.6 vs. 4.0) and median date of leakage (10.2 vs. 10.47 days post partum).
