About 80 puerperal patients in 4 groups were treated between the 2nd and 28th day post partum with a single oral dose of (i) placebo, (ii) 2 mg quinestrol, (iii) 4 mg quinestrol, (iv) 2 mg quinestrol + 2.5 mg quingestanol acetate. The double-blind study indicated that (ii) and (iii) gave only slight relief of breast symptoms, but (iv) appeared more satisfactory. There were virtually no undesirable side effects with the treatments.
