Chromomycosis. Treatment with thiabendazole

Of 14 patients with Chromomycosis treated orally with thiabendazole (either alone or with surgery), 5 were apparently cured. The drug was generally well tolerated (at 2 g daily) with only minor symptoms of nausea and headache occurring at higher dosage levels. A newly recorded hypersensitivity reaction developed in several patients manifested by elevated serum bilirubin and transaminase values. Of 19 patients studied, 18 were African and 1 Indian (8 male and 11 female).
