Treatment of Hymenolepis nana with niclosamide, mepacrine and thiabendazole

Seventeen of 20 patients with Hymenolepis nana were ova-free 2 weeks after treatment with niclosamide (at 60 mg/kg body-weight, followed by 15 mg/kg daily for 6 days) compared with 12 of 20 treated with mepacrine at a single dose of 15 mg/kg and 4 of 20 treated with thiabendazole at 25 mg/kg twice daily for 2 days. 5 weeks after treatment the cure rates had fallen to 14 of those treated with niclosamide, 3 of those with mepacrine and one of those with thiabendazole.
