Three horses died after single i/v doses of oxytetracycline, after showing symptoms of profuse diarrhoea, increased pulse rates and apathy. P.M. examinations all showed acute haemorrhagic and croupous typhlitis and colitis, and haemorrhages in various organs, with necrotizing nephrosis in one case. The same dose, 15 g i/v of oxytetracycline, was given experimentally to five horses. Three of them died within five days, and one was moribund on day 12. The fifth was symptom-free.
