Injections of oxytetracycline (10 mg/kg) for five consecutive days eliminated carrier-state infection with E. canis in two of three dogs. Infection was eliminated from the third animal only after eight injections. Challenge resulted in the establishment of new carrier-state infections in the treated animals.
