Fifteen derivatives of substituted benzaldehyde arylsulfonyl-hydrazones were synthesized and evaluated in vitro against human stomach cancer cells SGC 7901 and mice bone marrow cancer cells SP 2/0. The compound (10) killed about 2/3 of SGC 7901 cells compared with the control group in the culture of 100 .mu.g/ml concentration. Compounds (2), (3), (9), and (10) killed all of the SP 2/0 cancer cells in the culture of 50 .mu.g/ml concentration. With the exception of p-nitrobenzaldehyde benzulfonylhydrazone, the remaining 14 are new compounds, whose structures were confirmed by elementary analyses, IR and 1HNMR spectra.
