Systemic sporotrichosis with osteomyelitis

A case of systemic Sporotrichum [Sporothrix] schenckii infection with multifocal osteomyelitis and without arthritis is reported in a 60-yr-old woman. Sporotrichosis was diagnosed by radionuclide bone scintigraphy and radiography and by culture of S. schenckii from skin lesions and from biopsy material from tibial lesions. The patient was treated successfully by curettage of bone lesions, KI therapy for skin lesions and amphotericin B therapy.
