Potassium iodide is the drug of choice in the treatment of sporotrichosis . When iodide intolerance, resistant forms of Sporothrix schenckii or associated disease contraindicate iodide use, other therapeutic options are necessary. Ketoconazole was used for sporotrichosis, and complete clinical and mycological remissions were observed. Due to its low toxicity and the absence of side-effects, this drug may be an option for this infection.
