Treatment of canine nasal aspergillosis with systemic ketoconazole and topical enilconazole

Preliminary results of combined systemic ketoconazole with topical enilconazole are reported in a series of 5 dogs with nasal Aspergillus fumigatus infection. Enilconazole was administered twice daily via irrigation tubes to a total daily dose of 10 mg/kg for between 7 and 10 days. Following cessation of topical therapy and removal of tubes, dogs were discharged with ketoconazole at 10 mg/kg for 6 weeks. The clinical signs in all dogs were almost completely resolved by the end of treatment. Cultures of swabs taken during rhinoscopic examination failed to grow A. fumigatus.
