Thiabendazole Verus Miconazole in Dermatophytosis

Thirty cases of tinea corporis who were KOH positive and having at least 3 lesions underwent therapeutic trials with 70% alcohol, 0.25% thiabendazole in 70% alcohol and miconazole nitrate 2% gel cream. They were followed up for 4 wk; 100% cure was obtained with thiabendazole and miconazole. Response was significantly earlier with thiabendazole. The drug was equally effective in Trichophyton mentagrophytes, T. rubrum and Epidermophyton floccosum infections.
