T. mentagrophytes var. interdigitale [T. interdigitale] was the causative agent of 12.2% of dermatophytoses diagnosed in the E. Bohemian Region during 1960-79. Toe webs, the most common site of infection, were the location for mycoses in > 50% of patients; soles of feet and toe nails were relatively frequent sites of infection. A single lesion was present in almost 90% of patients; if 2 lesions occurred, they most frequently involved toe webs and soles of feet. Onychomycoses occurred more frequently in females. Microscopie examination revealed that T. interdigitale was most often present in skin scales from toe webs.
