Of 271 foci of infection in Sverdlovsk 92.4% were associated with cats or dogs or both. In 5.5% of the patients direct contact had occurred with mice, field mice and rats. The fungus was isolated from 8% of clinically healthy cats and also from dogs, calves and rabbits in the households of patients.
