Experimental donor mice were divided into 3 groups, A, B and C, each containing 22 animals; donors of groups A and B were orally immunized with 1000 and 500 Ancylostoma caninum larvae, respectively, and group C mice were not infected. 21 days after infection thymus cells from donor groups A and B were injected into each mouse of the recipient groups a1 and b1 (each containing 24 mice) and similar recipient groups, a2 and b2, received bone marrow cells from their respective donor groups. Control groups c1 and c2 received thymus and bone marrow cells, respectively, from the group C mice. 7 days after cell transfer, all recipient mice were challenged with a single oral dose of 500 A. caninum larvae. Significant expulsion of the larvae occurred in groups a1 (48.0%) and a2 (47.3%) compared with groupps b1 (31.4%) and b2 (39.5%), 6 hours after challenge (worm expulsion of control groups c1 and c2 was 21.6% and 29.0%, respectively). In groups a1 and a2 all the larvae had been expelled and/or destroyed by the 6th and 5th days, respectively.
