The immunodepressive effect of E. carotovora phage 62 is found. The effect is characterized by a decrease in the amount of antibody[Ab]-producing cells and in indices of the hypersensitivity-inhibition reaction, the level of immunodepression under the effect of the phage or developing tumor being the same. When comparing the effect of the phage on the immune system of tumor-carrying mice and normal animals, the amount of Ab-producing cells was lower in both groups while the indices of the hypersensitivity-inhibition reaction in the 1st group are considerably higher and close to those in the control animals. The anti-tumor action of phage 62 may be due to this effect.
