Treatment of Ascariasis and Enterobiasis with a single dose of pirantel pamoate

In Santiago, Chile, all of 127 boys aged 4 to 17 years from 2 boarding schools were found to be infected with Enterobius vermicularis, 15 had Ascaris lumbricoides, 41 Trichuris trichiura, and 30 Hymenolepis nana. All were given a single oral dose of pyrantel pamoate at 10 mg/kg body-weight, which cured 85 (108), 93.3 (14), 31.7 and 10%, respectively.
